The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) 2005 Human Rights Annual Report identified 20 ‘major countries of concern’. In 2005, the UK approved arms export licences to 12 of these, including Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Israel. Saudi Arabia has been the focus of UK arms promotion since the fall of the Shah of Iran in 1979, the UK has been Indonesia’s main weapons supplier over the past decade and Israel has received a steady flow of UK arms regardless of the situation in the occupied territories.

In December 2004, Naomi Oreskes of the University of California at San Diego reported in the leading journal, Science, on her analysis of a sample of 928 papers published in scientific journals between 1993 and 2003 under the keywords "climate change"...

Of all the papers, 75% either explicitly or implicitly accepted the consensus view; 25% dealt with methods or climate issues in the geological past, taking no position on current human-induced climate change. Remarkably, not one of the papers disagreed with the consensus position.

"Iraqi and American officials should be ashamed of talking of 'unidentified bodies'," Haja Fadhila from the Ghazaliya area of western Baghdad told IPS. "These are the bodies of Iraqis who had families to support, and names to be proud of. But nobody talks about them, there is no media. It is as if it is all taking place on Mars."
The Iraqi ministries for health and interior have said that they are finding on average five to ten "unidentified bodies" on the streets of Baghdad every day.
"Those Americans and their Iraqi collaborators in the Green Zone talk of five or ten bodies being found everyday as if they were talking of insects," Thamir Aziz, a teacher in Adhamiya told IPS.
